Dwarf Cichlid Internet SourcesBuying fish through the Internet or any other distance transaction always brings uncertainty. There are many factors that are open to interpretation that there can easily be misunderstandings. Sizing, sexing, shipping and identification are the most common areas of difficulty. I recommend that you have clear communications before the purchase is consummated. Searching the Internet will provide you with a number of options for buying fish. Here are a few sites you can check. Often the stock that a site has listed differs from what they have on hand. I suggest that you send an Email to see if there are additional species available or others that are sold out. The following sites are operated by people that I have reason to believe operate in an honest and straightforward fashion. However, by listing them here I am not endorsing them or certifying their performance. I will not list sites that I have any reservations about and I offer these sites as places to search for fish you might be seeking. The list below is in alphabetical order and does not represent any sort of ranking. If you know of a site you think should be added to our list please contact us. Anchor Bay Aquarium I have been buying dwarfs from Anchor Bay Aquarium for the past 25 years. From their store in New Baltimore, Michigan, they have consistently provided a varied stock of wild and tank raised fish. Send them an Email to see if they have fish not listed. Anubiasdesign is the site of Mark Denaro. The site linked is one that he maintains only on an infrequent basis because his real efforts are found in his Yahoo Group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/anubiasdesign/ . Be sure to check this out as it is really his web site. He has daily message postings and seeks advance orders for the many exotic tropical fish he imports. He usually has some dwarfs in stock but, in the appropriate seasons he often has availability lists that will make your heart race. Check out his site and subscribe to his message digest and you will be pleased. AquaBid.com This popular aquatic auction site is a dependable place to find dwarf cichlids. Normally you can expect to find several sellers with a number of species available for auction. In fact, dwarf cichlids are so popular that the site has added as special apistos section.. All transactions are handled per the rules of the site and there are good feedback and other tools. Aquaticclarity.com Jeff at aquaticclarity is an excellent breeder of many different fish species including some great dwarf cichlids. He usually has an excellent assortment of West African fish as well as some Apistogramma species. He is also a great source for driftwood. NOTE: this recommendation is based on information I have received from others. I have no reason to believe that you will have anything less than a great experience shopping with this business but I have never personally gotten fish from him. Christian from Pennsylvania is a prolific breeder of Apistogrammas and other species. He also has access to wild and European imports at times. In addition to Apistos he has other unusual fish available. Chris does not have a web site but he has a section on the forum at Apistogramma.com where he posts his monthly fish list under the name of Amazon Tropicals. You can contact him at chris1932 (at) comcast.net NOTE: this recommendation is based on information I have received from others. I have no reason to believe that you will have anything less than a great experience shopping with this business but I have never personally gotten fish from them. Ken Davis I first met Ken at the ACA Convention in Denver where he had a number of tanks full of various Apistogrammas for sale. However, I never had occasion to buy from him until I completed a mail order transaction which was handled perfectly. Although Ken mostly deals in the larger Central and South American cichlids, he often has a stock of dwarf cichlids as well. Ken does not have a web site but offers his fish for sale on AquaBid and can be reached through his email address: fishfarm (at)mindspring.com Tedsfishroom.com Ted Judy is an accomplished breeder, photographer and writer about all things dwarf cichlid related. Among other things Ted serves on the BOT of the American Cichlid Association and also has the popular dwarf cichlid site Apistogramma.com. Ted breeds a number of different species, especially West Africans. Check out his personal site linked above to see what he currently has available. Of course, I recommend you drop him an Email as he might have fish that are not listed on his site. Theamazonbasement.com is a fairly new (as of 2008) supplier of dwarf cichlids. They are developing a good reputation and are importing interesting wild fish as well as providing quality tank raised fish. In addition to a good selection of Apistogrammas they have many other interesting fishes. NOTE: this recommendation is based on information I have received from others. I have no reason to believe that you will have anything less than a great experience shopping with this business but I have never personally gotten fish from them. TwoFishGuyz.com These guys are doing a great job of developing a reputation for providing quality dwarf cichlids on the Web. They generally have a wide variety of tank raised and wild dwarfs from both South America and West Africa. Copyright
